Lordship School Updates and Events

~News from Ms. Murphy~

To the Lordship School Community:

Thank you to all of our families that attended our Annual Open House on September 29th! It was great to greet our returning families and to have an opportunity to meet our new families. Please take advantage of every opportunity offered to volunteer here at school or participate in one of the many events held and supported by our PTA. We have a wonderful PTA and everyone is encouraged to get involved. The PTA Executive Board this year consists of President, Jamie Farrell, Secretary, Lisbeth Greist, and Treasurer, Patty Starkey-we look forward to working together this year and on some new initiatives and programs for our students.

Starting on Tuesday, October 11th we will be offering a 10 week/session STEM experience after school for students in grades K-3 for a fee. Using Title 1 Grant funding we were able to offset the price for this program and hope families will take advantage of it. The first session is October 11th and the last is planned for December 20th and will run from 3:20-4:20. A late bus will be available only for those students that are considered “bus students”. Please register as soon as you can as the program may book quickly. We are also looking into the possibility of offering a chess club for students in grades 4-6 also on Tuesdays when the late bus is offered. Please look for those flyers to come home in the future.

The PTA has launched a new website with helpful information and links for parents. Thank you to a parent, Mr. Mario Recupido for his hard work and effort on the site!

Please look for a parent invitation to join a book club called Mindset. This is a philosophy the Stratford Public Schools are embracing and sharing with our staff and students. It is very powerful and is based on the idea that all can learn by having a growth mindset verses a fixed mindset. Please join me in this very interesting topic that can improve learning, relationships, careers, and general interactions in life.
